Her journey towards community leadership began in 2012 when she attended a youth forum organized by Mercy Corps in Kericho County, sparking her dedication to creating positive change. Over the years, Winnie has held various leadership positions, including serving as the President of the Kericho County Youth Bunge Forum, the vice secretary National Youth Bunge Association (NYBA), a member of the National Environment Civil Society Alliance of Kenya (NECSA-K) focusing on Environment and Natural resources management and the Coordinator for Women Peace and Security in Kericho County, supported by UN Women. She has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, overcoming challenges and inspiring others to recognize the importance of female leadership. She’s a member of the Kericho County climate change planning committee. Winnie’s advocacy extends beyond youth empowerment to encompass women’s rights and gender equality, notably campaigning against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV). She has tirelessly worked to raise awareness, provide support to survivors, and promote policies for women’s protection. Winnie’s dedication to her cause has taken her beyond borders. In 2016, she participated in the Women in Leadership training program through the International Visitor Leadership Program ( IVLP) in the United States. In 2019, she furthered her expertise in environmental sustainability through the Sustainable Private Forest Management Project(SPFMP) in Germany. Currently serving as a Credit Officer at Kenya Industrial Estate (KIE), Winnie brings financial acumen and strategic thinking to her role as the Team Lead for the Teen Parent Program at Sparkle Again Foundation. Leveraging her experience in project coordination and community engagement, Winnie is committed to providing teen parents with the resources, support, and guidance they need to build a brighter future for themselves and their children. Looking ahead, Winnie is poised to continue her journey as a champion for youth empowerment, women’s rights, and community development. Through her leadership, advocacy, and dedication, Winnie strives to create a more just, equitable, and inclusive society where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.
